MedinaCares is a guiding philosophy designed to inspire students to give back to the community through student-led clubs and volunteer opportunities within or for Medina Academy.

Compassionate Engagement – We seek to make Medina Academy a hub of compassion and civic engagement, where service, care, and leadership come together to strengthen both our school and our wider community.
Service in Action – Every act of service reflects the beauty of Islam and serves as a demonstration of its values. Guided by the words of Rasulullah ﷺ, “He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while his neighbor goes hungry” (Hadith). We dedicate ourselves to caring for our neighbors, nurturing bonds of support, and fostering a culture of compassion and belonging.
Leadership – We empower students to lead with integrity, inspire others through action, and take responsibility for creating positive change.
Beneficial Impact – We strive to embody the saying, “Allah loves those who are most beneficial to others,” ensuring our actions bring goodness and lasting positive change to our community and beyond.
Practice Leadership Through Student-Led Clubs (SLCs)
MedinaCares empowers students to lead through Student-Led Clubs. Students serve as founders, organizers, and members, collaborating toward shared goals while gaining leadership experience, developing teamwork skills, and building a community where everyone’s contributions matter.
Why Student-Led Clubs?
Student-led clubs give learners the chance to explore their passions, build leadership skills, and make a real impact. Each club focuses on a unique area—storytelling, digital media, public speaking, debating, and more—helping students grow confidence, creativity, and community awareness.
Volunteering Through Clubs
Medina Academy is a nonprofit. Any activity that benefits others directly, supports Medina Academy’s mission, or contributes positively to the community counts as volunteering. After-school club participation qualifies, with mandatory service projects included in each club. Examples of service include Art Club making cards for hospital patients, Chess Club hosting friendly matches at shelters, Robotics Club running STEM workshops, Drama Club performing at nursing homes, Slime Club selling slime and donating proceeds, Gardening Club growing produce for food banks, Sewing Club creating hygiene kits, and Dabke/Nasheed Clubs performing to support community causes.
Pilot-Phase Clubs
Pilot-phase clubs include Community Service Club, School e-Newspaper Club, Social Media Club, Toastmasters Gavel Club for Public Speaking, and Debating Club. After the pilot, students will have the opportunity to propose and start new clubs.

All students in grades 4–10.

Student-led clubs are a great way to develop leadership skills and gain experience that will benefit you in high school, college, and beyond. You’ll also have the opportunity to track volunteer hours and work toward earning a Volunteer Service Award.
Any student in Grades 4–10 is welcome to join. The main requirement is a commitment to attend weekly meetings and other planning sessions as determined by your club. Additionally, every club must include service projects in line with the MedinaCares philosophy.
Yes, there is a per semester fee of $50 to cover basic club expenses (First semester dates are Sept 02, 2025- Jan 30, 2026). Students are welcome to participate in multiple clubs each semester, as long as they uphold the MedinaCares Code of Conduct, meet quality expectations, and follow the attendance policy.
Additional fundraising may be organized to support other club needs. For example, Community Service Club might fundraise for supplies needed for food drives or community clean-ups. Podcast Club might raise funds to purchase high-quality microphones or audio editing software etc.

Clubs provide a space to learn new skills and create projects that serve others, support Medina Academy, or benefit the Ummah. Activities vary by club. For example:
Yes! Students are encouraged to create and lead new clubs. Applications for additional clubs will open after the first phase of clubs has been established.
Yes. Fundraising is allowed through school-approved methods, provided funds are used ethically for community service or club activities.
Yes. You can submit forms to document your volunteer hours. Be sure to keep a record of dates, hours, and the impact of your activities to track your contributions and leadership.
