MedinaCares Helps Funds Redmond Campus Library

From January 9–10, 2026, a Scholastic bookstall at the Islamic Book Fair stood out for one remarkable reason: it was run almost entirely by students.

Organized by the MedinaCares Community Service Club and supervised by Muna Ali Haq, adult guidance was provided during setup, but student volunteers took the lead in day-to-day operations. Throughout the two-day event, students assisted customers in selecting books, scanned items at checkout, processed both credit card and cash payments, made correct change, and delivered friendly, professional customer service. They also managed inventory, maintained orderly checkout stations, and ensured accurate record-keeping. At the end of each day, they helped pack up and secure all materials, demonstrating teamwork, leadership, and accountability.

The students’ efforts resulted in a profit of $2,865 in Scholastic Dollars, which the club used to purchase approximately 300 books for the new Redmond Campus Library—transforming the campus from having no library into one created through student initiative and service.
